How does FELIWAY® Classic Spray work?

FELIWAY® Classic Spray sends “happy messages” to cats that help them to feel
safe and secure when travelling, during a vet visit, or even at home. These
“happy messages” are the same natural messages that cats release into the
environment as a means of communication, known as pheromones.

When cats feel comfortable and happy, they mark their territory with these
pheromones by rubbing their face against furniture, other household objects, surfaces, people, or even other cats at home. When they later come back across
these messages in their environment, cats feel reassured. FELIWAY® Classic
Spray mimics this process, and is ideal for targeted areas such as part of the sofa or in their cat carrier.

How fast will I see results with FELIWAY® Classic Spray?

FELIWAY® Classic Spray can see results almost immediately, however, you should wait 15 minutes before allowing your cat to approach the areas you have sprayed.

How long should I use FELIWAY® Classic Spray for?

How long you should use FELIWAY® Classic Spray for will depend on where it
is being used:

Travelling: If necessary, repeat application every four to five hours during long journeys.
At home: Spray once or twice a day on the areas marked by your cat until their signs of unease or discomfort have resolved.

When should I use FELIWAY® Classic Spray?

FELIWAY® Classic Spray can be used in a number of situations. These include:

If your cat shows signs of discomfort during travel, such as vomiting, urination, or defecation, but also meowing, agitation, and salivation.
If your cat shows signs of stress at home, such as urine spraying and scratching on walls or furniture in targeted areas.

You should wait 15 minutes before allowing your cat to approach the areas you have sprayed. If you plan to travel with your cat, spray FELIWAY® Classic Spray in their carrier at least 15 minutes before the carrier is used.

Where should I use FELIWAY® Classic Spray?

Where you should spray FELIWAY® Classic Spray will often depend on the
situation:

Travelling: Spray directly on your cat’s bedding, inside their carrier, or in the car, 15 minutes before your cat has access to these areas.
At home: Spray once or twice a day on areas where your cat urinates or scratches (such as the sofa, chairs, door frames, or doors), ideally after cleaning those areas.

There are also places where you should NOT use FELIWAY® Classic Spray:

When travelling, never spray FELIWAY® Classic Spray in the carrier if your cat is inside. After spraying the product, you must wait 15 minutes before allowing your cat access to the area.
Do not spray your cat’s scratching post as this may deter your cat from using it.

When should FELIWAY® Classic Spray NOT be used?

There are a number of situations in which FELIWAY® Classic Spray should
not be used as a solution.

Thisincludes for motion sickness:

FELIWAY® Classic Spray is not indicated for motion sickness during a car journey. Instead, we recommend that you do not feed your cat for at least six hours before travel to avoid nausea and vomiting. However, you should not limit your cat’s access to water beforehand.

When at home:

If your cat does not have access to a clean litter tray, FELIWAY® Classic Spray will not prevent them from urinating in your home.
If your cat does not have access to a scratching post, FELIWAY® Classic Spray will not prevent them from scratching your walls or furniture, as scratching is a basic need for cats.
If medical reasons are causing your cat to urinate, hide, or have a reduced appetite, FELIWAY® Classic Spray will not help. It is important to consult a vet to rule out any potential medical issues.
FELIWAY® will not be of any use in cases of tension or even aggression towards humans. In these situations, we recommend that you consult your veterinarian or an animal behaviorist.

How much FELIWAY® Classic Spray should I use?

When using FELIWAY® Classic Spray, use 8 to 10 sprays for each application. A 20 ml bottle contains about 16 sprays and a 60 ml bottle contains about 50 sprays.

How long does FELIWAY® Classic Spray last?

The effects of FELIWAY® Classic Spray last between four and five hours. Each cat may react slightly differently.

Can FELIWAY® Classic Spray be recycled?

Yes, FELIWAY® Classic Spray bottles are made from recyclable plastics and can be recycled.

What is the shelf life of FELIWAY® Classic Spray?

Once opened, FELIWAY® Classic Spray can be used until the expiry date on the bottle.

Cat won’t poop in toilet

"My vet told me to try this product. My cat pees in the toilet but refuse to poop in the toilet. The product only worked the first day. He is back to pooping by the door."

Does not deter anything

"I have 3 cats 3, 13, 16 in ages. The oldest is a fixed female. The youngest is a neutered male, as is the 13 y/o. None of them particularly care for each other, but the boys really dislike the female, especially our youngest he tortures her. It is to the point that she won't use any of our 6 litter boxes for fear of being trapped and attacked. I put the defuser where the female cat prefers to be, but since then she hates that spot, and if anything is MORE abused because she is more likely to be seen by the boys. Maybe the chemicals effect some cats differently, but this product seems to have zero positive effect on any of my 3 cats,not calming, dose not deter fighting, or going on the floor. So for US this product is just an expensive addition to other useless purchases. Side note, the spray also does nothing for them."

"used by my vet but cat still hissed and bit. evertheless, tried it for kne month at home when introducing a new cat to the family. Again, it id nothing. However, patience and sensitivity to both cats and our dog did stop the fighting. After six weeks, peace and acceptance! Feliway may work for some, just not for this family. "I bought this an the diffusers to try and help my cats adjust to one another once we brought in a new kitty. I sprayed it where I was told in all her favorite places. My cat has actively avoided them now and has even gotten more aggressive with both her sister and the new kitty. Unfortunately it was not a success for me."
