How long does FELIWAY® Optimum take to work?

When using FELIWAY® Optimum, many cat parents start to see results for
their cat within the first seven days of use. However, all cats are different.
The first signs of enhanced serenity may come later depending on the duration
and severity of your cat’s signs of stress. We recommend using FELIWAY® Optimum for a period of at least one month, and ideally use it continuously for the maximum benefit.

For more information on how long all our FELIWAY® diffusers take to work, view our full guide here.

How long should I use FELIWAY® Optimum for?

Most cats benefit from the continued use of FELIWAY® Optimum to create a pleasant environment in the home, with the minimum recommended duration being one month of use. This ensures that FELIWAY® Optimum has time to take full, though you could start to see enhanced serenity in your cat much sooner.

When should I use FELIWAY® Optimum?

For the best results, it’s recommended that FELIWAY® Optimum is used
constantly or for a minimum of at least one month. Simply leave the diffuser
plugged into an electric socket 24/7 to provide ongoing support and enhanced
serenity for your cat.

You should consider using FELIWAY® Optimum in the following situations:

If your cat is urine spraying
If your cat is scratching walls or furniture
If your cat shows signs of stress such as hiding, reduced activity or appetite, or overgrooming
If you are anticipating changes to your home (e.g. moving house, renovations, redecorating your home, or arrival of a new pet or person into the household)
If you have two or more cats living with you and they show signs of tension (e.g. chasing, blocking, or staring) or if they are fighting?

Where should I use FELIWAY® Optimum?

For the best results, you should use FELIWAY® Optimum in the room where
your cat spends most of their time. Plug the diffuser into a properly functioning electrical socket that has clear space above it of at least 4ft (1.2m). This allows the oily vapor that carries the calming messages to rise above the diffuser in a column of warm air and into the surrounding environment.

Where should FELIWAY® Optimum NOT be used?

To ensure your FELIWAY® Optimum diffuser can work as effectively as
possible, you should avoid using it in:

Hallways - Cats naturally spend very little of their time in hallways, so FELIWAY® Optimum will have a reduced effect if used here.
Near the litter box – Likewise, cats spend very little time near their litter tray, so the efficacy would be reduced if used here. If the litter box is in the room where your cat spends the most time, there is no problem plugging it in this room.

Going on 3 weeks

"So far, I am not seeing a difference. I have found more urine and my one pacer (she is the one spraying and pacing...doesnt settle always worried about other cats and cat who lives in basement) still wont settle. Hoping this works....I received it week of Sept 14th....im hoping! if this works....I will def re-write this review. I really want this to work!"

Not as effective

"When I got my new kitty 2 years ago, she was 2 years old and licked and scratched a lot. I got Flyiway Optimum and put it in the 2 rooms she spent the most time in. At first, it seemed to help as she wasn’t licking and scratching as much. As time has gone on, she has picked it back up. She doesn’t scratch herself raw, but spends alot of time licking and scratching again."

— Dee B. (4/5)

Changed the House Dynamic for the Better

"Our two cats, brother n sister, fought like siblings until we started using MultiCat red label. The male would still nip every now n then, until we swapped one of the red with Optimal purple label - what a difference! They don't fight any longer and have been seen sitting together in a window! He can still be a little onery like stealing her bed on occasion, but now we can all live together in peace. Yay!!"

No human phone number

"My cat has started to on the wall by the Feliway infuser And who is available to ask about this? You would think for your pricey product you could afford a non-bot helpline Gina Claypoole 828-405-4317"

— Gina C. (5/5)

Had No Effect

"Unfortunately, this product did not work for us. Our cats are still fighting as though nothing has changed."

— Liz S. (1/5)

Not well

"Did not see a change at all. Prefer a refund tbh. Really disappointed. I think it may have made their behavior worse."

— Briana S. (1/5)

Effectiveness

"Have not seen much difference in their behavior. Still fighting and one cat is always very nervous and jumps at the slightest sound. Will even leave her dish when eating and run off to hide."

— Mona P. (3/5)

Pretty Amazing Stuff

"I was skeptical about these diffusers, but was willing to try just about anything when, after adopting a third cat, our 10 year old Tuxedo Cat turned into a monster!. I have 3 plugged in in the room they spend the most time in and one in the bedroom where the Tuxedo (Simon) sleeps. The change has been remarkable! This was most noticable when all of a sudden Simon started acting up again and I checked the diffuser in the bedroom and it was empty. Put a new one on and the behavior stopped! This stuff really works."

— Kathleen O. (5/5)

Works?

"I wanna say it works I mean my Maine coons stopped rough housing the older cat and that was the goal so yeah I guess it works give it a try"

— Richard B. (5/5)

No change

"Unfortunately, this product didn’t work for our solo cat, nor when we adopted a sibling for him. They fight right in the hallway as the feliway seeps its way to them. I don’t doubt it works for some cats. Just not for my two neutered males. So far. It’s only been a couple weeks…"
